Sigma Kappa Alumnae Scrapbook, Page 15
"JUST OFF THE PRESS'
15c per copy - 50 $ per year
March Issue 1928
Issued by the Puget Sound Alumnae
Editor: Grace Jack Ketcham,
Chapter of Sigma Kappa Sorority.
1553 Interlaken Blvd. Seattle
Asst. Editor: Eleanor J. Graves
2122 Hamlin St., Seattle.
Dear Sisters:
Seattle is enjoying such wonderful Spring weather just now,
that it seems womewhat of an effort to settle one's mind on sterner
stuff. But I'm told this news letter must be out before the Sigma
Kappa Theatre night at the President, Monday, March 19th. So that
each and all must be sure to save the date. If you haven't already
received your tickets which are priced at $1.00, 75d anf 50₫, please
notify Gladys Hamilton, East 5394 and tell her you want to go. The
Players are presenting Madam "X", a mystery drama. I am sure you
will enjoy the Stock Company this year, besides being happy to meet
your friends and if we sell out the house to a certain number,
think of our profits on the sales!
A card party was given the Alumnae by the Frigidaire people
in their Auditorium in the Securities Bläg., January 20th. Several
of the girls attended the affair whom we haven't seen for ages. One
was Katherine Mayne Hopper, who is visiting here from Montana. She
looks fine and the girls were all tickled to see her and the other
girls; Leilah Kohler Crane, Evelyn Rosaaen Leader, Helen Robb
Pieroth, Gladys Hamilton, Helen Cooper Swift, Eugenia Craver Baillar-
geon, Lucile Townsend, Doris Stalberg, Gordon Dickens Clithero,
Vonia Winter Swigart, Carol Whipps Kleist, Vera Coleman Lichtenberger,
Eleanor Jones Graves, Celest Moser Skoog, Grace Jack Ketcham, Ruth
Boeshar and Margaret Metskar Mapes, whom every one was happy to see.
Seems as though the Chapter has been pursued by ill luck of
late.
Katherine Hoffman is again teaching in the Bremerton Union
High School, after being confined to her home the past seven weeks
with a broken ankle.
Glad to hear that Bernice Jones, an Active, is recovering
nicely from a serious injury to her knee while on a hike to Lake
Ketchelas with other Active Sigmas.
We were sorry to hear of the serious operation Ruby Triggby's
husband underwent the first week of February and sincerely hope he
has fully recovered by now.
We send our love to Anna Grant's mother, Mrs. H. G. Grant, for
a speedy recovery from a major operation. Can't have you sick, Mrs.
Grant.
Mrs. Robb, Helen's mother, is recovering from a broken arm.
We surely hope it is well again and you don't have any more missteps.
Josephine Bulkeley has been very sick at her home with Flue,
the last three weeks. She expects to resume her teaching this week.
Marion Van der Water Nelson has also been sick at her home,
but says the Doctor now has a wonderful diet for her and she is feel-
ing better and believes she has gained a pound. She spent the week-
end with Bess Blanchard at Auburn. Bess is extremely busy with the
Senior Play. She is head of the English Dept. out there.
Margaret Mansfield Van Gilder who has been sick in the Hos-
pital is improving steadily and is still under the Doctor's care.
